Hot Springs & Skiing

It's been a busy couple of weeks!  Casey is officially potty trained.  I hate to jinx myself, but she hasn't had an accident for 2 weeks.  I still remind her/make her go to the potty, but lately, she is actually telling me when she has to go.  She still wears pull ups during nap and bedtime and is definitely not ready to change that, though she did say the other day, "when i get bigger, i'll wear undies to bed."  Sounds good to me.

A couple Tuesday's ago, Casey and I went with Sarah and Rowan to Abasin for a morning of skiing.  We rented real skis and I even put on skis, which I haven't done in 12 years!  We rode the bunny hill lift up and went down the hill with Casey in between my skis.  The first run was a bit scary for me, but by the second run, we were both pros getting on and off the lift and skiing down the hill.  Casey even skied down next to me the last run.

President weekend we drove down to Pagosa Springs for some powder skiing at Wolf Creek and some rest and relaxation in the Hot Springs.  Pagosa Hot Springs Resort has 23 different "hot tub" springs ranging from 93-110 degrees.   There was also a hot springs pool that was 85 degrees.  Casey loved it there.  There were a couple pools that were in the 90's and shallow so it was like she was in a bathtub.

Casey is still taking 1 nap a day, usually around 1:30 or 2:00.  It's much needed for both Casey and Mommy.  However, if we are out and about, she can sometimes make it without a nap...she just gets a little more defiant at the end of the day.  She is definitely a 2 1/2 year old, testing her limits, she says "NO" a lot and spends a fair amount of time in short time outs, before apologizing for talking mean, or for hitting, or for not obeying.  She is starting to realize consequences for bad behavior are not that fun.  Getting toys taken away because she won't clean them up is starting to work.  She is actually starting to notice.

But she is also a very sweet 2 1/2 year old.  She enjoys having her Daddy around the house and loves to help with chores.   She feeds Frisco dinner most nights, all by herself.
"Casey, do you want to feed Frisco?"
Casey:  "Oh Sure!"  (that's her answer every time we ask her to do something somewhat interesting).  She talks about her best friends and likes to share certain toys with them, even when they are not around.

Casey wants to wish her Daddy an early Happy Birthday (Friday, March 4th)!  Can't wait for cake.

Enjoy the pix.

What are you looking at?!

Frisco had to share her seat, so why not snuggle.

Skiing With Family

It has been 3 weeks of family.  Aunt Marcy, Uncle Stuart and cousins Lily and Jack came out over MLK weekend.  Lily took a couple ski lessons and is now a pro!  Jack got to hang with Casey at Casey's school.  And we all got to ski Keystone and Breckenridge.  The day we went to Breckenridge, Jack and Casey even got to ski and ride the magic carpet.  Uncle Stan got to ski with Lily and Stuart all day.  Casey also got into our hot tub for the first time with her cousins.  We also went tubing at Copper, but had to cut it short because of the cold and wind.  Still, another first for Casey.

Grandma Gail and Grandpa Tom were the next visitors.  They arrived Jan 30th for the week.  Unfortunately, it was a cold week and Casey got the flu.  Nights and mornings were in the double digit negatives, warming up to single digits in the afternoons, however one day it didn't get past 0 degrees ever.  We did get 2 days of skiing at Keystone in and got to catch up on our movies and a new card game, Phase 10.

Aunt Kel came in Superbowl Sunday and stayed until Friday.  We got to ski everyday, including powder at the beginning of the week.  Casey was very excited, running down the stairs yelling, "My Aunt Kelly, My Aunt Kelly is here!!"

The guests are gone so now it's up to us to entertain ourselves.  We went hiking today, McCollough's Gulch.  It's finally back up in the 30's!

Casey is potty trained.  She has to be coerced into pooping still, but doesn't have too many accidents anymore.  Every once in a while when she has friends over and is too busy playing, she has minor accidents, so we are still working on it.  And she still wears pull ups to bed.  But on a daily basis, Casey is wearing underwear!

Late congrats to our friend Mark and Amy who had a little girl, Ella, on Jan 31.  And congrats to our friends Erica and Khristian who had their little girl, Kaia, yesterday (Feb 11).

Enjoy the pix.
